RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh man died from a fiery single-car crash on Friday morning.
Around 1 a.m., Dontez Haywood was driving in the 6500 block of Rock Quarry Road when he crossed the center line, went off the road to the left and hit a tree. The car then caught fire, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol (NCSHP).
First responders were unable to save Haywood, 46. NCSHP said speed was likely the cause.
Skid marks were visible on the side of the road. One lane was closed for several hours.
