Raleigh man charged in string of Durham robberies

A Raleigh man has been charged in connection with three Durham robberies dating back to February.

DURHAM, N.C. — A Raleigh man has been charged in connection with three Durham robberies dating back to February.

Maxwell Sizemore, 35, was charged with three counts of common-law robbery and one count of second-degree kidnapping in connection with robberies at two banks and a convenience store.

On Feb. 26, Sizemore entered a BP Family Fare at 3804 North Duke Street at about 2:45 a.m. and threatened to hurt an employee if he did not open the register and give him money. He fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes.

Later that day, authorities said Sizemore entered the Wells Fargo bank at 900 West Club Boulevard at about 4:30 p.m. and demanded money. He jumped over the counter and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

On March 22, police said Sizemore entered the BB&T bank at 5028 North Roxboro Street at about 3:40 p.m., demanded money and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Authorities said no weapons were used and no injuries were reported in any of the incidents.

Sizemore was arrested on March 28 in Raleigh and is being held at the Durham County Jail under $100,000 bond.
