GARNER, N.C. — Garner police arrested a 21-year-old Raleigh man on Wednesday and charged him with first-degree burglary, armed robbery, possession of a firearm by a felon and resist, delay and obstruct.

Robert Jerome Henderson, of 5827 Waterford Crystal Court, is accused of entering Westchester Apartments, 905 7th Ave., Apt. G16, at 8:42 p.m. Police said he pointed a gun at the victim and demanded money, which the victim gave him.

Officer Sonny Roberson and his K-9, "Bear," responded to the 911 call and found Henderson in the Forest Hills Shopping Center parking lot.  Henderson ran and Bear stopped him, without biting him, police said.

Henderson threw down a gun, causing it to discharge, and then surrendered, police said. The gun and stolen money were recovered, and Henderson was taken to the Wake County Jail.

Henderson was released from prison Nov. 30, 2009, after serving a year for selling drugs and taking indecent liberties with a minor, according to state Department of Correction records.
