RALEIGH, N.C. — A fire that damaged a building on South Blount Street and destroyed four limos early Friday is "suspicious," Raleigh fire officials said, because the blaze was moving so fast when crews arrived.

The blaze began around 1:45 a.m. at 1316 S. Blount St., near Shaw University. Police have shut down a section of the street.

Cooter’s Towing and Repair used to operate at that address. A new owner recently bought the building and planned to operate a limousine company there.

"The fire caused significant fire and smoke damage to the entire building with a majority of the roof collapsing due to heavy fire conditions. The fire was extinguished by fire department personnel with no altering effects to the scene," according to an incident report.

No one was was injured in the fire.
