Lillington, N.C. — A former principal at Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School will take his chances at trial, his attorney announced.
Jesse Jones declined a deal on behalf of his client, Larry Ray Jewell, 57, of 104 Queensbury Drive in Dunn.
Jewel faces multiple sex-related charges, including taking indecent liberties with a minor, statutory rape and disseminating obscenity to a minor. He quit his job shortly before his February 2007 arrest, but has maintained his innocence, claiming the charges are in retaliation for his effort to evict the accuser from his home.
Jewell remains in the Harnett County Detention Center on a $3.25 million bond. His trial is set to begin Oct. 13.
