Weekend best bets: Hopscotch, Beer, BBQ and Bourbon and more

The big event happening this weekend is Hopscotch Music Festival, which returns this year for an in-person event in downtown Raleigh. There are also a lot of other events happening in the area.

The big event happening this weekend is Hopscotch Music Festival, which returns this year for an in-person event in downtown Raleigh. There are also a lot of other events happening in the area.

Hopscotch night and day

Hopscotch Music Festival (Raleigh City Plaza, 400 Fayetteville Street, Raleigh) - This music festival returns to downtown Raleigh Thursday through Saturday. There will be performances nightly at Moore Square and City Plaza. Attendees will need to bring proof of identification, and either proof of vaccination for COVID-19 or a negative COVID-19 test. Negative tests must be obtained within 72 hours for each day the you attend the festival.
Hopscotch Day Party: Presented by Empire Agency & Cardinal Talent Group (The Pour House Music Hall, 224 S Blount St, Raleigh) - The Pour House will host a Hopscotch Day Party on Saturday from starting at noon and running to 5 p.m. Guests are required to show proof vaccination or a negative covid test within 72 hours of the show will be required for entry. Your physical card or a picture of your vaccine card on your phone will be accepted. In addition, masks will be required at all times while not actively drinking at a show or while shopping in our record store.
Hopscotch Day Party at Lincoln Theatre (Lincoln Theatre, 126 E. Cabarrus St., Raleigh) - Lincoln Theatre will host this Hopscotch Day Party on Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. The lineup includes rapper Big Pooh, Kooley High, Shame Gang and and Sa-Roc. In between sips, all attendees and staff must wear masks indoors.
Hopscotch Day Party presented by Carolina Waves (The Pour House Music Hall, 224 S Blount St, Raleigh) - The Pour House will host a Hopscotch Day Party on Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. Guests are required to show proof vaccination or a negative covid test within 72 hours of the show will be required for entry. Your physical card or a picture of your vaccine card on your phone will be accepted. In addition, masks will be required at all times while not actively drinking at a show or while shopping in our record store.
Hopscotch Day Parties at Transfer Co. (Transfer Co. Food Hall , 500 East Davie Street, Raleigh) - Transfer Co. Food Hall will host three day parties for Hopscotch. The parties are Thursday and Friday from 1 to 6 p.m. and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Hopscotch Day After Party (The Pour House Music Hall, 224 S Blount St, Raleigh) - Head to the Pour House for this party on Sunday starting at noon. The event is for ages 21 years and over and requires all guests to provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test within 72 hours of the show. In addition, masks will be required at all times while not actively drinking at a show or while shopping in our record store.

Baseball, hockey, beer and bourbon

Durham Bulls Baseball Hockey Night (Durham Bulls Athletic Park, 409 Blackwell St., Durham) - Hockey Night returns to the Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Sept. 10. Bulls players and coaches will wear specialty Canes themed jerseys, which will be auctioned off to benefit the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation. Stormy and the Hurricanes' warning siren are scheduled to be at the ballpark.
Beer, Bourbon & BBQ Festival (Koka Booth Amphitheatre, 8003 Regency Parkway, Cary) - On Friday and Saturday head to Booth Amphitheatre for this event. It features all you care to taste beer and bourbon, plus barbecue and bluegrass. General admission tickets start at $39 each day and designated driver tickets are $25. Masks are not currently required in outdoor settings in Cary but are strongly encouraged in situations where social distancing is difficult to maintain. Masks will be required when visiting the restroom facilities on site, in accordance with local mandates for masking in indoor or enclosed spaces, so please bring your masks.
NC Sugar Rush (The Pavilion at Durham Central Park, 501 Foster St, Durham) - This all dessert food truck rodeo will be held Saturday at Durham Central Park from 3 to 8 p.m.
Bull City RoundUp Food Truck Rodeo & Vendor Market (Suite 4 , 506 Ramseur Street, Durham) - Enjoy this vendor market and food truck rode on Saturday from 2 to 10 p.m. at Suite Four in Durham.
Cheers to 7 Years: A Clouds Brewing Anniversary Party (Clouds Brewing , 126 North West Street, Raleigh) - Clouds Brewing in Raleigh will celebrate its 7th anniversary with a block party on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. There will be live music, food and drink specials.
Halfway to St. Patrick's Day - Outdoor Event (Doherty's Irish Pub & Restaurant, 1979 High House Rd, Cary) - Doherty's Irish Pub hosts this outdoor event with live music on Saturday from 3 to 11 p.m.
Brunch Moore Market (Moore Square Park, 200 South Blount Street, Raleigh) - The Brunch Moore Market will be held Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Moore Square. There will be farmers, artisans, food trucks and a DJ. Admission is free. This event is all outdoors and masks are suggested for anyone who is not vaccinated.
The Streetery (Van Alen, 511 South Mangum Street, Durham) - At The Streetery, organizers close streets to vehicle traffic and open them up for outdoor dining. On Saturday, the Streetery will be held at Van Alen and 555 from 5 to 9 p.m. Face masks must be worn in indoor public places including restaurants and retail businesses.

Sept. 11

9/11 Memorial Ceremony (Stewart Theatre, Talley Student Center at NC State University, 2620 Cates Ave., Raleigh) - The NC State Crafts Center will host Art of Remembrance, a memorial ceremony commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on Saturday at 7 p.m. The memorial ceremony is free and open to the public, but reservations are required. The event will be livestreamed for those who cannot attend in person. Face coverings are required in all indoor spaces on the NC State campus regardless of vaccination status.
Raleigh 9/11 Heroes Run 5K Race (Sugg Farm Park, Grigsby Ave, Holly Springs) - One of the nation’s leading veteran service organizations, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF), will host the Raleigh 9/11 Heroes Run 5K race on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at the Jefferson L. Sugg Farm Park. The annual race will unite the community to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the September 11th attacks, and honor the lives lost on 9/11 and in the wars since, along with our veterans, military, and first responders who serve our country and our communities.

Festivals and live music

40th Annual Apex PeakFest (Historic Downtown Apex, N Salem St & Center St, Apex) - This annual festival celebrates everything Apex on Saturday on Salem Street. The event will include vendors, music and food. Masks are encouraged but not required. However, some vendors and downtown businesses have mandated masks be worn in their designated areas.
Oktoberfest at Lonerider (Lonerider Brewery, 8816 Gulf Ct, Raleigh) - This brewery will host its annual Oktoberfest on Saturday starting at 1 p.m. There will be live music, German food and a stein holding contest.
East Meets West Festival (Morrisville, 301 Dominion Drive, Morrisville) - This event celebrates Morrisville with food, culture and music from around the world. This year the festival is being held from Sept. 1 to Oct. 10. There will be events throughout the month.
47th Annual Crepe Myrtle Celebration (Angier Depot Square, 19 West Depot Street, Angier) - This annual festival will be held in downtown Angier on Friday from 7 to 10 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be food, vendors and live music. Plus there will be a special Kidsville area with rides and games.
The Black Crowes Present: Shake Your Money Maker (Coastal Credit Union Music Park (formerly Walnut Creek Amphitheatre), 3801 Rock Quarry Rd., Raleigh) - The band is celebrating its famous album with this concert tour. It stops at Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek in Raleigh on Sep. 11. Masks are encouraged but not required.
The Best of North Hills: Fall Concert Series (Coastal Credit Union Midtown Park @ North Hills, 4011 Cardinal at North Hills St., Raleigh) - Enjoy some of the best area tribute bands during this outdoor concert at North Hills' Midtown Park Friday night form 6 to 9 p.m. Admission is $10 and children ages 13 years and younger are admitted for free.
Lara Beitz Headlines the Improv (Raleigh Improv, 1224 Parkside Main Street, Cary) - Born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Lara has appeared on David Spade's Comedy Central series Lights Out. You can see her at Raleigh Improv Friday through Sunday.
Lil Baby w/ special guest Lil Durk: The Back Outside Tour (Coastal Credit Union Music Park (formerly Walnut Creek Amphitheatre), 3801 Rock Quarry Rd., Raleigh) - Lil Baby plays Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek in Raleigh on Sep. 10. He will be joined by Lil Durk. Masks are encouraged but not required.
The MAKRS Society Market (Midtown Park - Raleigh, 4011 Cardinal at North Hills Street, Raleigh) - The MAKRS Society Markets at Coastal Credit Union Midtown Park in North Hills will be held the 2nd Sunday of each month with a new batch of vendors. Check it out this Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Marvel Movie Premier Weekend and a Double Feature! (Shang-Chi & then Free Guy) (Triangle Town Center Mall, 5959 Triangle Town Blvd, Raleigh) - Enjoy two outdoor movies at Triangle Town Center mall's parking lot this weekend. There will be a screening of "Shang-Chi" followed by "Free Guy" on Friday and Saturday nights.
Pickin' in the Pines with Into The Fog (Koka Booth Amphitheatre, 8003 Regency Parkway, Cary) - Join Into The Fog for a couple hours of progressive bluegrass music as they make their Koka Booth Amphitheatre debut on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m.
ADF's Together We Dance Featuring Pilobolus (Joseph M. Bryan Jr. Theater in the Museum Park (N.C. Museum of Art), 2110 Blue Ridge Rd., Raleigh) - Pilobolus, the remarkable company that secured an iconic place in American culture in the early 1970s, is still wowing audiences. See them on stage at Joseph M. Bryan, Jr., Theater In Museum Park on Friday night.
Luke Combs (PNC Arena, 1400 Edwards Mill Rd., Raleigh) - ACM, CMA and CMT Award-winning artist Luke Combs will continue his extensive "What You See Is What You Get Tour" with two shows at PNC Arena this weekend. Combs will be performing on Friday and Saturday starting at 7 p.m.
NC International Auto Expo (The Raleigh Convention Center, 500 S Salisbury St, Raleigh) - Check out the newest cars, trucks and sports utility vehicles this weekend at this event Friday through Sunday at the Raleigh Convention Center.
