RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh dentist has been barred from sedating patients in his office, according to an order filed this week.

In an order filed Tuesday, the North Carolina State Board of Dental Examiners found that Robert W. Eisberg II has routinely placed pediatric patients in a deep sedation and is not trained to conduct the level of sedation.

"It is the board's opinion that the respondent's continued use of moderate pediatric conscious sedation constitutes a threat to the public health, safety and welfare," according to the order.

Eisberg – the owner of Atlantic Family Dental, according to the office's website, has a right to a formal hearing on the matter before the dental board.
