WILMINGTON, N.C. — Troopers were investigating a wreck Thursday night involving a van from Tupper Memorial Baptist Church in Raleigh.

The van, which was carrying nine people, was headed to Topsail Island when it crashed on Interstate 40 near Wilmington in Pender County, authorities said.

Emergency crews took all nine passengers to nearby hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. As of Friday morning, one person remained in the hospital with broken ribs, troopers said.

Authorities said one of the van's tires blew out, it spun out of control and overturned. No other information was released.
