Raleigh, Chapel Hill celebrate National Night Out

Police officers in Raleigh, Chapel Hill, Fayetteville and other communities will celebrate National Night Out on Tuesday.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Police officers in Raleigh, Chapel Hill, Fayetteville and other communities will celebrate National Night Out on Tuesday.
On National Night Out, police officers gather with the community at parks, community centers, neighborhoods and apartment complexes across the country for cookouts, ice cream, music, games and more. It's a chance for people to meet the law enforcement in their area. National Night Out began in 1984.

National Night Out events in Raleigh

In observance of National Night Out, Raleigh police asks people to leave their porch lights on from 7 to 10 p.m. The porch light symbolizes alertness and awareness; it makes your neighbors and friends feel welcome.
