Rain totals climb before bright, mild Christmas Day
It won't be a white Christmas this year, but you're dreaming of a mild Christmas with plenty of sunshine, you're in luck.

Christmas Day will be bright and sunny, with limited clouds and a brisk high of 52 degrees. Christmas Eve will be similarly pleasant, with partly cloudy skies and a high around 55 degrees. Before the holiday, though, comes a spell of wet weather that could lead to some minor flooding in the Triangle.
The rainiest day of the week will be Thursday. Although temperatures will be warmer for Thursday, close to 60 degrees at times, rain will become more likely as the day continues, making for a messy evening commute and soggy conditions.
Areas to the south and east of the Triangle are likely to see the heaviest rain.
"You won't want to do anything outside tomorrow, and Friday won't be much better," said WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner
The rain will taper off on Friday, which will also see a high close to 60 degrees, before clearing the way for a beautiful travel or shopping weekend.
According to Gardner, rain should not be an issue after Friday -- and it won't be an issue again until after Christmas. The weekend will be cooler, with highs in the low 50s, but bright and sunny.
Stores will be crowded as shoppers finish their to-do lists, but the weather should not be a nuisance.
That bright, cool pattern will take the Triangle right into Christmas Day.
