RALEIGH, N.C. — The weekend is off to a soggy start, with rain expected to continue through Friday and into Saturday morning.

A low-pressure system is pushing rain into North Carolina on Friday. Showers started Friday morning and were expected to continue through the night before breaking up some and finally letting up during the day Saturday.

Temperatures hovered around 48 degrees during the day. They're not expected to get much lower overnight.

There was a flood advisory for counties around the Fayetteville area until 7 p.m. as heavier amounts of rain fell in the Sandhills on Friday. Some areas between Charlotte and Fayetteville have gotten up to two inches of rain.

Saturday morning will be the greatest chance for rain in the area, with chances up to 70 percent. When the rain does clear out, temperatures are expected to get close to 60 degrees.

The weather has postponed Friday night's Holiday Express. According to the city, ticket holders for Friday can attend on the rain date, which is Monday, Dec. 16. At the moment, the sold-out event at Pullen Park is scheduled to run as normal on Saturday.

Sunday is expected to be clear with sunny skies, with high temperatures in the mid-50s. Temperatures will reach the 60s on Monday and Tuesday before another cold spell drops temperatures into the 40s.
