Gray week ahead: Severe storms return Sunday, rain persists for days
Flash flood warnings expired early Sunday for Wake and surrounding counties, but, according to WRAL meteorologist Mike Moss, the rain will continue.
Posted — UpdatedThere is a 40 percent chance for rain in Raleigh on Sunday afternoon, and, according to WRAL meteorologist Mike Moss, storms could persist into the work week.
According to Moss, scattered showers and storms are possible anytime on Sunday afternoon and evening, and there's a chance that a few of the storms could produce localized damaging wind gusts, hail or heavy rain.
A 30 percent chance for rain will remain overnight, and Monday will be mostly cloudy as well, with scattered showers and storms likely in the morning.
The good news is that weather like this makes everything cooler -- highs are expected to be at 85 degrees or lower for much of the stormy, overcast week. According to Moss, it might be cloudy and gray until Thursday.
