Race relations among top subjects during Wake County school board meeting
Some board members encouraged parents and teachers to take a more pivotal role in recognizing and reversing systemic racism during Tuesday's Wake County Public Schools meeting.
IF POSITIVE CASES COME OUT OF THE PROTEST, WE ARE TOLD THAT CONTACT TRACING WILL BE DIFFICULT. AND WAKE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT TEACHERS MET, SOME COURAGE PARENTS AND TEACHERS TO TAKE A MORE ACTIVE ROLE TO RECOGNIZE AND REVERSE SYSTEMIC RACISM. THERE WERE DISCREPANCIES IN STUDENT DISCIPLINE. MOST OF IT CENTERED ON RACE RELATIONS AND ONGOING PROTESTS. >> I HAVE NO INTEREST IN RETURNING TO NORMAL IN THE PANDEMIC AND SPIRIT FOR TOO MANY STUDENTS, NORMAL MEANS POTENTIAL DISCOUNTED, CULTURE QUESTION, AND REVIEWED WITH SUSPICION. THAT'S NOT NORMAL, IT IS IMPORTANT, WE ARE ALL ESSENTIAL IN THE FIGHT AGAINST RACISM. >> THE BOARD MEMBERS APPROVED
