Pullen Park launches free fitness series, including options for moms with kids

Now that Pullen Park's kiddie train and kiddie boats are back open and the weather is finally feeling spring-like (more of the time?), the Raleigh park has launched a series of free fitness classes that feature local workout programs and feature some opportunities to bring along your kids.

Now that both the kiddie train and the kiddie boats are back open at Pullen Park and the weather is finally feeling spring-like (more of the time?), the Raleigh park has launched a series of free fitness classes that feature local workout programs and include some opportunities to bring along your kids.
Here's the schedule with descriptions of the vendors and programs, according to Raleigh's website:

Free Yoga at Pullen Park

Stacy Ingham, owner and director of Ashtanga Yoga School Raleigh, will provide a free guided Ashtanga Primary series class. This will be a challenging, dynamic practice appropriate for those with experience doing Vinyasa or Ashtanga yoga. This practice helps practitioners deepen focus inward, learn to extend breath, and is meant to help detoxify and purify the body. Please bring your own yoga mat. These are on the schedule from noon to 1 p.m., April 14, May 19 and June 23.

Free Stroller Strides, Prenatal programs

Stroller Strides is a total fitness program from Fit4Mom that moms can do with their children (in strollers or baby carriers). It includes power walking or jogging and intervals of strength and body toning exercises using exercise tubing, the stroller and the environment. Children are entertained all throughout class with nursery rhymes, finger play and singing. It's on the schedule for 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., April 3.

Prenatal Fit4Baby is a prenatal fitness class designed to strengthen the body for all the changes it will experience during pregnancy, delivery and beyond. Classes are interval-based, combining elements of strength training, cardio and stretching/balancing exercises as well as deepening the connection between mom and baby. Modifications are available to increase or decrease the intensity and impact of all exercises. This a safe and effective workout for moms of all fitness levels, at every stage of pregnancy. It's set for 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., April 10.

Free Camp Gladiator sessions

Camp Gladiator is an outdoor group fitness company for all fitness levels and all ages. Our mission is to positively impact the physical fitness and ultimately the lives of as many people as possible. We are dedicated to transforming lives through dynamic, fun and challenging workouts led by certified by personal trainers. It's set for 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., April 29, and 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., May 28.

Free Burn Boot Camp sessions

Burn Boot Camp is a lifestyle fitness facility for busy women and their families. We provide the mindset and positive environment for women to encourage and motivate one another to get better everyday. Our clients experience a high energy 45-minute session that is progressively challenging and never the same. Our complimentary child watch allows moms to focus on themselves so they can make their families better. These are scheduled for 11 a.m. to noon, May 12, and 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., June 3.

Pullen Park is at 520 Ashe Ave., Raleigh.
