RALEIGH, N.C. — A power outage hit downtown Raleigh late Thursday morning, affecting 725 customers, according to Duke Energy's online power outage map.

The outage began just before 11 a.m. near Moore Square, which is bounded by Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to the south; East Morgan Street to the north; while South McDowell Street and South East streets bookend the outage to the west and east, respectively.

A spokeswoman for Duke Energy said electricity was restored shortly after noon Thursday. She said the cause of the outage was linked to a power line that was damaged during construction taking place in Moore Square.
