Power restored to downtown Raleigh customers after mid-morning outage
A power outage hit downtown Raleigh late Thursday morning, affecting 725 customers, according to Duke Energy's online power outage map.
Posted — UpdatedThe outage began just before 11 a.m. near Moore Square, which is bounded by Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to the south; East Morgan Street to the north; while South McDowell Street and South East streets bookend the outage to the west and east, respectively.
A spokeswoman for Duke Energy said electricity was restored shortly after noon Thursday. She said the cause of the outage was linked to a power line that was damaged during construction taking place in Moore Square.
