RALEIGH, N.C.Calavera Empanadas and Tequila will not be reopening its doors, owners announced via Facebook on Tuesday.

The restaurant closed in January after about eight months in business at 615 W. Morgan Street.

Owners said they have sold their concept and plan to make their food available for online ordering soon but will not open as a dine-in restaurant.

"As for the building, we have been making renovations and it is available for private events, like our extremely successful Drag Brunch. Which will be held the last Sunday of each month," owners wrote on Facebook.

Calavera originally opened in September 2011 at 444 S. Blount St. In 2015, it was honored with an honorable mention for best late night dining in the WRAL.com Voters' Choice Awards.
Calavera closed its original location in February 2018 after more than six years in business.
