Another round of scattered storms, summer-like temps expected Wednesday

There will be a severe weather threat east of Raleigh in New Bern, Goldsboro, and Greenville. We could see damaging wind speeds, hail and heavy rain due to these scattered storms. But not everyone will see storms Wednesday.

Rain chances will be possible Thursday but the better chances for rain will be Wednesday. Friday will be the driest day of the week -- heading into the Fourth of July weekend.

Friday will be hot and humid but sunny before a chance for storms returns for the weekend.

The Fourth of July is forecast to have a high of 92 degrees and a small chance for afternoon storms.

Some parts of North Carolina saw some severe weather on Tuesday.

Storms rocked several areas of central North Carolina. Through the afternoon, storms rocked Goldsboro, Jacksonville and Wilmington with heavy rain and wind gusts. From Wake Forest to Bunn, radar indicated a thunderstorm packing quarter-sized hail with gusts of up to 60 mph.

In Johnston County, a storm brought downpours over Micro, Pine Level and Princeton. There were numerous trees down and other storm damage, particularly in parts of Princeton.

A Level 1 threat was in place for counties south of the Triangle through Tuesday night. A few showers remained but the threat of severe weather dropped dramatically into Tuesday night.
