RALEIGH, N.C. — Downtown Raleigh will get a pop-up soccer field starting this week.

A mini-pitch will appear on City Plaza at 400 Fayetteville St. on Thursday, July 15. It will be there until Aug. 15.

The field appears thanks to collaboration between Raleigh and The Bucy Foundation's Free Play Soccer initiative, which is working to raise $2.5 million over the next two years to build 25 soccer fields in local neighborhoods with no access to free-play spaces, according to a press release.

The pop-up field will be available for the public to use. It also will be the site of some NCFC Youth tournaments, Friday Night Futbol with guided youth pick-up programs, mid-week play for adults and more.

This pop-up is taking place in partnership with the City of Raleigh, the North Carolina Courage, North Carolina FC, North Carolina FC Youth, Downtown Raleigh Alliance, Walk West, StreetSoccer USA, Sport Resource Group, and Raleigh Futbol 4 All.
