DURHAM, N.C. — After being closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, Ponysaurus Brewing Co. reopened its taproom Monday with a new outdoor beer garden.
“We feel so fortunate to have such a large amount of outdoor space,” Ponysaurus Brewing Co. owner Nick Hawthorne-Johnson said. “There is ample room to spread out, and with our additional safety measures, we feel assured that guests will be able to enjoy their time here safely.”

At this time, Ponysaurus will only be allowing outdoor seating. The garden's picnic tables are also arranged more than six feet apart.

The outdoor garden will be open from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and noon to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Other safety protocols include one-way entry and exit points for ordering beer at the taproom bar, which has added glass to protect staff and guests. Guests will be required to wear masks when standing in line to order, walking around and placing their orders at the taproom window. Masks will not be required when people are seated outside.

Ponysaurus will continue to operate its Beer Drive-Thru, located behind the brewery on Hood Street. Orders should be placed online for touchless pickup. When customers arrive, staff will dip all orders in a food-safe sanitizer bath prior to putting cans in the customer's trunk.

Breweries were allowed to reopen as the state moves into Phase 2 of its reopening plan.
