FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A 19-year-old Fayetteville woman was arrested Tuesday in a stabbing death on Monday, police said.

Jamesha Sparrow is charged with second-degree murder in the death of 36-year-old Amanda Rollins.

Officers responded Monday afternoon to the area of Rosehill Road and Tranquil Drive after a disturbance was reported. Police said two couples had agreed to meet at College Lake Park, and the two men started fighting. While the men were fighting, the women exchanged words, and one pulled out a knife and stabbed the other twice, police said.

Rollins was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where she died.

Police said the Rollins and Sparrow knew each other before the stabbing.

"This was not a random incident," said Asia Cannon, spokeswoman for the Fayetteville Police Department. "The victim and the suspect had previous issues, so at that moment they met up, they got into a physical altercation, which unfortunately turned deadly."

Sparrow was jailed under a $350,000 secured bond.

Police said no charges will be filed against either of the men who were fighting at the same time.
