Police: Wilson man charged with sex crimes after being assaulted by girl's mother

A Wilson man was arrested on child sex charges after being assaulted by the victim's mother.

WILSON, N.C. — A Wilson man was arrested on sex charges after the mother of a girl he allegedly assaulted attacked him, police said.

Albert L. Newsome, 60, was charged with two counts of indecent liberties with a child and two counts of second-degree forcible sexual offense.

Wilson police were called to the 600 block of Benton Street on April 29 for a report of a person down.

When they arrived, they found Newsome lying down and in a incoherent state. Police said a woman at the scene said she assaulted Newsome after finding him sexually assaulting her 10-year-old daughter.

Newsome was taken to Wilson Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.

His bond was set at $251,000.
