Police: Wig-wearing bank robber fled on pink bike

Durham police said that a man wearing a long wig and makeup robbed a bank and rode away on a pink bicycle Wednesday morning.

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police said that a man wearing a long wig and makeup robbed a bank and rode away on a pink bicycle Wednesday morning.

Police spokeswoman Kammie Michael said the man entered the Wachovia bank at 300 Foushee St. around 10:45 a.m. and handed a teller a note, saying that he had a gun and demanding money.

No one saw a gun, and no one was injured, Michael said.

The man changed clothes after he left the bank and was last seen pedaling away on a pink or light red bicycle, Michael said. He was described as black, 5 feet 6 inches tall, with a thin to medium build and light complexion.

Anyone with information about the case should call Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200. Crime Stoppers tipsters never have to give their names and are eligible for cash rewards for information that solves felony crimes.
