Police warn of break-ins in southern Durham

Durham police warned Friday of a rash of home and vehicle break-ins recently in the area of Woodcroft Parkway.

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police warned Friday of a recent rash of home and vehicle break-ins in the area of Woodcroft Parkway.

Police said that a man is entering unlocked vehicles and homes, mostly between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. In some cases, the burglar used spare keys found inside vehicles to enter a residence.

Anyone with information about the break-ins should call police Investigators Wheeler at 919-560-4583, ext. 29370.

Police offered tips to avoid break-ins:

  • Lock your vehicles.
  • Do not leave valuables or spare house keys in your vehicle.
  • Lock all doors and windows to your home.
  • Call 911 to report any suspicious activity or people.
