Police: Two Raleigh businesses robbed early Thursday

Raleigh police were investigating two robberies early Thursday that happened about 5 miles apart in northwest Raleigh.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police were investigating two armed robberies that happened about 5 miles apart in northwest Raleigh. 

Officers were called to Lime Fresh Mexican Grill, at 8521 Brier Creek Parkway, about 11 p.m. Wednesday for a report about a masked man with a gun. The man stole money and an employee's cell phone before running away. Witness gave a vague description of the man.

About an hour later, another robbery was reported at the Food Lion at 4827 Grove Barton Road. Two men entered the store and held employees at gunpoint while they took money. Police said both men were armed.

No injuries were reported and no arrests have been made.

Police said while it doesn't appear that the two robberies are connected, they Food Lion robbery "appears to be part of a pattern of commercial robberies.
