RALEIGH, N.C. — Police said Thursday they are investigating the deaths of two men found inside a vehicle in a Glenwood Avenue parking lot in Raleigh as a double homicide.

Around 12:30 a.m., officers were called to the parking lot of a Panera Bread, at 6201 Glenwood Ave., to do a welfare check.

"I think there's a dead body in a truck," a caller told a 911 dispatcher. "Someone is slumped over on the wheel."

When officers arrived, they found the two men dead inside the vehicle. Police said both men had been shot.

The victims were identified Thursday afternoon as Pedro Joel Reyes Dias, 24, or Raleigh and Allan Uriel Rodriguez, 25, of Wendell.

The vehicle that Reyes and Rodriguez were found in was parked next to a van owned by Michael Ponder.

“The back of the truck was about halfway in the middle of [the back] door and the front extended past the car,” he said.

The men, who were friends, were both well-known at an Atlantic Springs Road barber shop.

“[Reyes] was a very friendly guy. Any help that you’d need, he was there. You’d call him for anything he’d come with no problem,” said friend Joseph Mejia.

Mejia said Allen was quiet, and never had a bad word to say when he would come get a haircut.

Two men were seen being questioned at a nearby Days Inn Thursday afternoon.

A vigil for Reyes was scheduled for Thursday night at 9 p.m. in Raleigh.

Anyone with information about the deaths is asked to call Raleigh Crime Stoppers at 919-834-4357.
