DURHAM, N.C. — Durham Crime Stoppers has offered a reward for information leading to the arrest of a man who stole a car Sunday with a 13-year-old boy inside.

The boy told police that he was listening to music inside his grandmother's car outside the Church of God in Jesus Christ, 815 Fargo St., around 2:30 p.m. A masked man pointed a gun at the boy, got inside the car and drove away.

The boy punched the man in the mouth and jumped out of the car while it was moving near Hope Valley and Cornwallis roads, police said. The boy suffered minor injuries but refused treatment by EMS.

Police are searching for the suspect and the stolen car. The car is a blue 2000 Toyota Camry, possibly with North Carolina license plate ZPL-5207.

The suspect was wearing a mask, black sweatshirt, blue jeans and red and white Nike sneakers.

Anyone with information on the stolen vehicle or the incident is asked to call police at 919-560-4415, extension 29312 or Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases, and callers never have to identify themselves.
