Police: Son kills mom in Goldsboro, then tries to kill himself
A Goldsboro man killed his mother on Thursday morning and then tried to kill himself, according to police.

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A Goldsboro man killed his mother on Thursday morning and then tried to kill himself, according to police.
Goldsboro police were called for a welfare check in the 200 block of Rosewood Avenue around 8 a.m.
Towanda Jones was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
Police said her son, DeCarlos Jones, had injuries consistent with being self-inflicted. He was taken to Wayne UNC Health Care in Goldsboro for treatment of his injuries. He faces a charge of murder in the death of his mother.
