Police Seek Injured Chapel Hill Burglar

Police on Monday were seeking a burglar who was injured during a break-in early Friday.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Police on Monday were seeking a burglar who was injured during a break-in early Friday.

Officers responded to a reported burglary at 329 Tenny Circle at about 3:20 a.m. Friday and found that the burglar had escaped through a glass door, severely cutting his or her scalp. There was a large amount of blood on the patio and a trail of blood leading to North Street, police said.

A resident at 606 North St. was awoke to find someone had broken into the home and had stolen a cell phone and a 2004 Acura MDX sport utility vehicle, with North Carolina license plate TRH-973. The thief left a large amount of blood in the hallway and kitchen areas, police said.

Police said they believe the burglar sought medical care to treat the serious head laceration. They asked anyone at area urgent care facilities and hospitals to call the Chapel Hill Police Department at 919-968-2760 or Crime Stoppers at 919-942-7515 if they have treated or have any information about the suspect.
