Three charged in shooting of Wilson teen

Wilson police are searching for the person who shot a 17-year-old Monday afternoon.

WILSON, N.C. — Three people have been arrested after a 17-year-old was shot Monday afternoon in Wilson.

Wilson police said officers arrived at the 1600 block of Snowden Drive and found Jahterrius Lewis suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg.

Lewis told officers that he had been standing outside when he was shot, according to police. Lewis was taken to Wilson Medical Center for treatment.

Authorities said the suspect left the area in a silver or grey pick-up truck with an extended cab. The vehicle, which had been reported stolen in Rocky Mount, was located and processed for evidence.

Notorious Settles, 18, of 206 Apt. A Forrest Road, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, possession of a stolen vehicle and attempted first degree murder. He was being held under $200,000 secured bond.

Demontae J. Sessoms, 20, of 206 Penny Lane, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, larceny of a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle and attempted first-degree murder. He was being held under $315,000 secured bond.

Michael D. Mack Jr., 17, of 306 Forrest Road, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, possession of a stolen vehicle and attempted first-degree murder. He was being held under $100,000 secured bond.

Authorities do not believe the shooting was a random incident.

Police said the incident remains under investigation and more arrests are expected.
