Police search for suspect after Fayetteville shooting injures 1

— Police are investigating a shooting that occurred Monday afternoon in a Fayetteville shopping center.

Around 12:30 p.m., officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to a shooting that occurred in the parking lot of the Cliffdale Corners Shopping Center.

According to Fayetteville police, a man was shot while sitting in the front passenger seat of a car parked in front of a business in the complex.

Following the shooting, the driver of the car tried to flee the scene but crashed into a median in the parking lot.

The man who was shot was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The driver and a second passenger were not injured in the incident.

Detectives were searching for the suspect, and the identities of the victim and the others involved were not released.

According to police, the shooting does not appear to be a random accident.
