2 killed, 1 injured in shooting at Rocky Mount home
Two people were killed and another was injured Tuesday morning during a shooting at a home in Rocky Mount.
Posted — UpdatedMustafa Yousef Shabaneh, 33, was pronounced dead when rescue workers arrived at the home located at 1901 Forest Wood Road around 6:30 a.m., investigators said.
Late Tuesday, police confirmed that Anthony Ryan Hilliard, 30, died from his injuries at Vidant Hospital in Greenville.
Another man, Randy Navoro Williams, 32, was listed in stable condition Tuesday afternoon, police said.
Shabaneh's sister said her family doesn't know the other victims.
The three men had been shot, police said.
"We don't have any information on what led up to the shooting," said Rocky Mount Police Cpl. Brad Summerlin. But he said officers believe the victims were targeted.
"This was not a random event," Summerlin said. "These particular people were specifically chosen in this incident."
The victims were inside Shabaneh's pickup truck, which had crashed through a neighbor's fence, he said.
Police say the subdivision is quiet, and it's rare for law enforcement to be called there.
"It's bizarre, but there's always underlying factors anytime you deal with a situation or a case like this," Summerlin said. "There's more to the story. Definitely our homicide unit is going to get on it and hopefully be able to get some information and some leads in this case and be able to bring this case to a close."
Police say no arrests have been made, although they don't believe there is a threat to the public.
