Police respond to minor train derailment in Fayetteville

Fayetteville Police officers responded to a report of a minor train derailment Saturday on Russell Street, between Old Wilmington Road and Dick Street.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville Police officers responded to a report of a minor train derailment Saturday on Russell Street, between Old Wilmington Road and Dick Street. 

The cars that derailed were still in the upright position and were not loaded with any hazardous material, according to police. 

CSX was notified and the cars were put back on the track.

Motorists were encouraged to utilize an alternate route Saturday afternoon.
