KNIGHTDALE, N.C. — Police on Friday released an image from a doorbell security camera in Knightdale of the person suspected of assaulting two women on a nearby greenway last week.

Police said both incidents, one on June 2 and the other on June 4, occurred near the Widewaters Community trail head, just off Widewaters Parkway near mile marker 2¾ of the Mingo Creek Greenway.

The security camera image shows a male in a blue T-shirt and shorts walking along a street toward a wooded area.

Knightdale police are trying to identify the person in the blue T-shirt walking down the street. He's suspected of attacking two women on the Mingo Creek Greenway.

The person involved in the greenway assaults was described as a teenager, around 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a larger frame and dark, curly hair.

He touched at least one woman on her buttocks before running off.

James Bragdon runs on the Greenway nearly every day. He's a part of a trail club called the Greenway Beer and Wine Run Club and said he's frustrated by the reported assaults.

"People should be able to go out and enjoy themselves and not have to worry about being attacked by somebody, you know?" he said.

. Anyone who can identify the person in the photo or has information about the assaults is asked to call Detective Kerry Burke of the Knightdale Police Department at 919-217-2261.
