Police release photos of cabbie's possible final fare
Raleigh police are trying to identify a woman who may have been the last fare for cab driver Michael Howard Palmer before he was shot Monday night.Posted — Updated
Police believe that Palmer picked up the woman visible in a surveillance photo at the Greyhound Bus station in downtown shortly before 11 p.m. Monday and took her to the apartments.
Raleigh police spokesman Jim Sughrue said several residents near the crime scene reported hearing "a shot" late Monday.
Raleigh police have set up an anonymous tip line for the case at 919-227-6220. Investigators asked that anyone who saw anything suspicious in that area Monday night, or who recognizes the woman in the photo, call the tip line.
“The person that did this is still out there,” Vonise Palmer said.
Meanwhile, a memorial fund has been set up for Palmer's family. Donations and contributions can be made to The Michael Palmer Fund at any Wachovia Bank in North Carolina.
