— A pilot flying solo survived a small plane crash on Long Island on Sunday, authorities said.

The crash near the Old Bethpage solid waste disposal plant was reported just after 1 p.m., a Nassau County Police spokesperson said.

It appears that the pilot survived the crash and no one else was on board the plane, police said. Information injuries to the pilot wasn't immediately available.

Arlene Salac, a spokesperson for the Federal Aviation Authority, said the pilot of the twin-engine Cessna C421 reported engine problems before the crash. She said the crash is under investigation.
