FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police are searching for a man who robbed a Speedway convenience store Friday night.

Authorities said the man walked into the store at 4650 Raeford Road at about 11:50 p.m. and made a cup of coffee. When he approached the counter to pay for the drink, he demanded money from the clerk behind the counter.

When the clerk did not comply, the man reached across the counter and punched the clerk in the chest, police said.

Authorities said the man then walked around the counter, pulled out a knife and obtained an unknown amount of cash from the register before fleeing on foot.

The man was described as being 5 feet, 6 inches tall and black with a scruffy beard. He is believed to be between 25 and 35 years old and was last seen wearing a black canvas-style jacket with a hood, a red shirt, light denim pants, black shoes and a black knit cap.

Anybody with information is asked to call Fayetteville police at 910-703-9279 or Crime Stoppers at 910-483-8477.
