Police: Man killed his mother in shooting at Raleigh home

A mother was shot and killed by her son in Raleigh on Friday afternoon, the Raleigh Police Department said Saturday morning.

RALEIGH, N.C. — The Raleigh Police Department have accused a Raleigh man of shooting and killing his mother on Friday afternoon.

Tyler Jordan Hawkins, 25, was arrested and charged with murder on Friday.

According to arrest records, Tyler Hawkins lived at the 3900 block of Griffis Glen Drive where the shooting occurred.

A woman was shot in south Raleigh on Friday afternoon.

Tyler Hawkins' mother, Trumellia Vanessa Hawkins, 46, was killed at around 3 p.m. Friday at the home.

Police did not say what a possible motive in this shooting was.

Tyler Hawkins was being held at the Wake County Detention Center. A bond for him has not yet been released.
