FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A man in a white van tried to lure a child into his car on Sept. 20, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.

The man stopped in front of a home on Weiss Avenue sometime between 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., police said, and asked a girl playing outside come over to the van. Police described the vehicle as a white, late 90s model Dodge Caravan.

The child immediately went inside and told her father. The van drove off when he came outside, police said.

Sgt. Jeremey Glass said the child did exactly what she should in notifying an adult.

Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the man driving the van. The child was only able to give a general description.

Officials have provided the public with a photo of a van similar to the one that they believe approached the child in Fayetteville.

If anyone has any information about this incident, they are encouraged to reach out to Investigative Assistant S. Roldan at 910-354-7621.
