CLAYTON, N.C. — Clayton police have arrested a 22-year-old Raleigh man who they say injured a woman in a hit-and-run Thursday evening after he stole a television from the Walmart on Highway 70.

Skyler Tray Mazza, of 4731 Gin St., faces one count each of felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle, felony hit and run, misdemeanor larceny and misdemeanor resisting arrest.

Police said Thursday that Mazza was speeding away from the Walmart in a stolen pickup truck when he hit a woman's car, jumped out the truck and ran into some nearby woods.

He was taken into custody late Friday in Cary after an investigation by undercover officers, police said.

The woman injured in the hit-and-run was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Mazza was in the Johnston County jail Saturday under a $135,000 secured bond. At the time of his arrest, he was also served with an outstanding warrant for probation violation.

Debra Bryfgole was at the Walmart when Mazza sped away.

"I was scared. This is a Walmart that I go to a lot, and it's scary that I can't go to Walmart after school with my kids," she said.
