LUMBERTON, N.C. — Police said Tuesday that the "accidental weapon discharge" that wounded a Lumberton police officer last week came from a fellow officer.

Officer Aaron Revels accidentally shot Officer James Walters Friday evening on Peterson Drive near Fayetteville Road, police said. Walters was treated at Southeastern Regional Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.

The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the incident.

Lumberton police didn't say whether Revels has been taken off patrol during the investigation or whether the department is conducting its own review as well.
