RALEIGH, N.C. — People living in one north Raleigh neighborhood are scared for their safety after a man was caught on security camera sneaking around houses and exposing himself.

In a Facebook post asking for the public's help in tracking the man down, residents say he snuck into the backyard of a home on Wescott Drive and was looking in windows and masturbating.

Police said they have not made any arrests or disclosed any information about any suspects. Those who live in the neighborhood said they are worried that he may still be in the area.

Police are asking anyone with information about the man's identity to call: 919-856-6911.

Margie Holben said it is scary to think the Falls River neighborhood could have a Peeping Tom.

“There are so many walkers in the area," she said, adding that she did not recognize him after she saw a picture of the man from surveillance footage. "I'll be looking."

Other neighbors said the man was caught on video surveillance exposing himself behind a home in the neighborhood.

“That’s unbelievable in this neighborhood," she said.

Wake County investigators searched the woods behind a home on Wescott Drive on Wednesday as they looked for clues to help identify and find the man.

“Investigators have been working around the clock looking for this suspect,” said Eric Curry, spokesman for the Wake County Sheriff's Office.

He said there haven't been any similar reports of Peeping Toms in the area.

“We’ve eliminated one person of interest, and we do have one strong person of interest right now,” he said, adding that the surveillance video and photos have been key in the investigation. "We’re getting some great tips, but right now we’re needing that one strong lead to get us to get this perpetrator behind bars.”

While investigators search for that lead, Holben said she’s taking necessary precautions until the man is identified and caught.

"I ordered blinds for my windows," Holben said. "So, I’ll be using those.”
