DURHAM, N.C. — The man hit by a gray sedan in a hit-and-run in September has died, Durham police announced a month later.

A suspect in the hit-and-run has not been identified.

The crash occurred around 9:15 p.m. on Sept. 7. According to officers, Manuel Sanchez, 55, was walking along Holloway Street, just east of U.S. Highway 70, when he was struck in the right side by the left front corner of a dark gray sedan.

Sanchez was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries but later died.

Police are searching for the dark gray sedan, which should be missing the driver's side headlight and turn signal. The suspect's car also appears to have had previous body work due to the evidence found on scene, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Investigator Cox with the Traffic Services Unit at 919-560-4935 ext. 29409 or Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200.
