PHILADELPHIA — Police have released video of a young boy running across a North Philadelphia road as he gets hit by the driver of a minivan, who drove away from the scene.

Police in Philadelphia are asking for the public's help in identifying the driver who committed a hit-and-run on a 6-year-old last weekend. The boy was crossing the street with his sister at the time.

The surveillance video pauses right before the vehicle makes contact with the boy. When it resumes, several people rush to his aid after seeing what happened.

At first, the driver gets out of the vehicle and comes over to the boy. The driver eventually got back into the minivan, sat there for several seconds, and later drove off in the middle of the commotion.

The boy is resting at home after suffering serious bruises on his face and body.
