Police link racist online post for ECU rush party to officer of rival fraternity
A member of an East Carolina University fraternity has been charged with posting a racist invitation to a rush party at a rival fraternity on social media.
Posted — UpdatedJames Daniel Edwards IV, 19, was charged last Friday with cyberstalking.
The following item was posted on the social app Yik Yak in late August, according to Greenville police: “Theta Chi rush party. PNMs (potential new members) and girls only. No blacks. Girls 5$ @door. Call or text.” The post included a fraternity member’s name and number for an invitation.
Police determined that no one affiliated with the Theta Chi fraternity was involved with the post, and they were able to link the post to Edwards.
