WAKE FOREST, N.C. — Wake Forest daycare provider Kids 'R' Kids fired an employee on Wednesday for violations of the daycare's code of conduct. Owner Stacie Williamson sent a letter to parents about the move, and the letter was shared with WRAL News.

The Wake Forest Police Department is investigating accusations that an employee Kids 'R' Kids has been mistreating children.

Williamson said the daycare center wants to resolve the matter with the family involved and has “been available for any calls or meetings that they have requested.”

Parents and an employee told WRAL News they believe the incidents of mistreatment have been going on far before this investigation and have been brushed under the rug.

"They are very rough with my son’s classroom, just jerking kids. They get frustrated," said Grace McClure.

McClure told WRAL News that she removed her 4-year-old son from Kids 'R' Kids after about around four months.

"She drug my son with his arm in the air, wouldn’t let him go for anything in the world," she said.

McClure and other parents were able to check on their children through a camera app provided by the daycare.

"One of the main things I loved about [Kids 'R' Kids] is that they did have cameras," she said.

A parent filed a police report after witnessing "mistreatment" of children in videos she captured on the camera app.

The videos show a woman kicking a baby, shoving a seated child into the table, tossing a child in a chair and kicking it and an employee setting a child down very hard.

An employee who currently works at the daycare told WRAL News she had concerns before the videos were posted on social media this week.

"It is alarming. I have witnessed mistreatment many times — staff being too rough with children, talking to them in ugly manner. However, the incident that occurred is being blown out of proportion. It is not what is being portrayed on social media," she wrote.

In her letter to parents, Williamson said Kids 'R' Kids is addressing those concerns.

"Once notified about the videos, we immediately spoke to both teachers that were present in the classroom. The assistant in the classroom was temporarily removed from class. The parents of the involved student were contacted, and a meeting has been scheduled for this afternoon to review all camera angles with parents and teachers," the letter sent to parents said.

Police have not filed any charges, but Williamson said they are investigating.

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services gave Kids 'R' Kids a 5-star rating. It's been inspected 10 times in the past three years.

An inspector with the state most recently visited the facility last month.
