DURHAM, N.C. — Authorities are investigating two shootings, one fatal, that occurred less than five miles away from each other on Sunday evening.

Durham police said officers arrived at Stadium Drive near North Duke Street just before 6:30 p.m. and found Carlos Jones, 32, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Jones was taken to an area hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries, police said.

Thirty minutes later, around 7p.m., a carjacking and shooting on Canal Street sent two people to the hospital.

The victims suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Officers are still looking for the people responsible for both shootings. At this time, there is no evidence that the shootings are connected.

Anybody with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200.
