— Police on Monday identified the man whose body was found two weeks ago wedged in an air duct in a vacant Durham convenience store.

Insurance adjusters investigating the theft of copper wiring found Kenneth Avery Smith, 48, dead in a duct on the roof of the Town 'n' Country convenience store, in the 3700 block of Fayetteville Street, on Oct. 16.

The store had been closed for several months, police said.

Police reported Smith missing on Sept. 27. He was last seen on Sept. 3 on Dunn Ave., they said.
