Police ID man killed outside Durham hotel

Marquis Deir Orr, 27, of Durham, was shot and killed outside the Millennium Hotel Friday afternoon, police said.

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police have identified the man shot outside the Millennium Hotel Friday afternoon.

Police said that officers found Marquis Deir Orr, 27, of Durham, wounded in the parking lot at the hotel, at 2800 Campus Walk Drive.

Orr had been shot in the back, police said. He was pronounced dead at Duke University Hospital.

Investigators haven’t further details surrounding the crime, but they say they do not believe it was a random act. They said it did not appear that Orr was staying at the hotel.
