GARNER, N.C. — Police said a four-hour checkpoint Friday night on Garner Road was a success.

The checkpoint netted 61 total charges, including five people who were arrested for driving while impaired. One vehicle was seized.

Garner Police worked with the Cary and Apex police departments and Wake County Sheriff’s deputies at the checkpoint, which was part of the Labor Day "Booze It or Lose It" campaign.

"Anytime we can get drunk drivers off the road, we've had a good night," said Lieutenant Bob Stevens. "I wanted to thank the agencies who helped make this checkpoint a success."
