HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. — Some local homeowners are concerned about drug paraphernalia found in a Holly Springs creek.

Cary police officers were preparing to serve a search warrant at a Holly Springs home on Friday, but by the time they arrived, the suspect was no longer there.

Someone had tipped police off that the suspect dumped drugs in the woods. When officers walked to the creek, near Optimist Farm Road and Beech Creek Court, they found drug paraphernalia, which had already contaminated the water.

The State Bureau of Investigation was called to help clean up.

Authorities said the water is not a danger to the public, but could not say how long the clean up might take.
